Burden-bearing
i3eulah  22.June.2002

"... casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."  [I Peter 5:7]

How much weight of burden can one withhold upon the shoulders? Even if not of our own but of the people around us, whom we care. Most of us will probably share the carrying out of a sincere heart but in no time we find that we cannot sustain all those weight upon our shoulders. They begin to affect us and then these burdens become like our own even though they are not. We become the burden-bearer through our identifying with the issues.

I have encountered such myself, in many other situations, especially for loved ones. And in no time the world became the most depressing place of existence. But this is not the case to be. How can one even be that effective support where there is no strength? We say, "this is not my problem that I should give a damn about." But disregarding is not the answer in the face of a real issue. How do we do that right without seeping ourselves with such identification?

"For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin." [Hebrews 4:15]

We cannot bear the burden, we are barely qualified to. Except for the One who had traded his all for our sakes. Jesus, the Christ whom we crucified. All that going through during His life on earth that He qualifies to carry these burden on His shoulders for us, and to bring help to all situation you and I can ever encounter. Its a proven package.

We can only do so much. But He does so much more. And the offer is extended to all.

I don't know about you. But I am certainly taking the wiser option.

Selah.

Stepping towards our dreams
i3eulah  29.April.2002

We dream a lot. Of things we want to do in our lives and of things we would like to do with our lives. But most of these things are just dreams with no action applied. And when we know what to do concerning those dreams, we begin to lay before our eyes the questions and pressures of reality. Some self-imposed. The thing about us is that we worry too much. We think too much sometimes. Some things come to nothing with all that thinking.

Talked with a mate today, she came to the realization of what she wants to do in life. And to do that she is required to make some sacrifices with a huge part of her life. Laid with ties of family bond and filial responsibilities, she had to consider her dreams, the choice to be weighed by obligations or to take that step of courage and walk towards the direction of her realization. Such consideration is weighty. Obligations can be quite a master. But at the end of the day it is to our own conscience we know we have to account to. And with that conscience we conclude our decision. Are we willing to lay down our dreams that perhaps another may benefit easier? Or are we willing to walk in that courage and venture to its realization? I guess with in-depth consideration on the balanced scale of truth and integrity, we know which plate weighs more.

And to which our conscience is clear, that will be the correct direction to go. Nothing can be more enslaving than a conscience painted with pale shades of gray. If any truth is to be reckoned at all, it will be the truth we see in the mirror.

And of my friend who has made her choice to heed the calling in her heart, I am very glad for her stepping in boldness towards her own truth and to her, I give the best of my heartfelt support.

Selah.
